"Courageous" is an 8-week workshop series designed to empower men who have experienced trauma, offering a space for healing through education, exploration, inspiration, expression, and encouragement. This class builds on the foundation of the women’s "I Rise" workshop but is tailored to the unique challenges and strengths of men on their healing journey.
Class Details:The title "Courageous" reflects the bravery it takes to confront and overcome the effects of trauma. The workshop is inspired by the teachings of Viktor Frankl, an Austrian neurologist, psychiatrist, and Holocaust survivor, whose work emphasizes finding meaning even in the face of great suffering. Frankl’s philosophy, as laid out in his seminal book Man’s Search for Meaning, underscores the power of purpose in transforming trauma into triumph. His life and work serve as a beacon of hope, showing that even in the darkest of times, we can find a reason to move forward.
What to Expect: Participants will engage in self-reflection and be introduced to stories of resilience, including the inspiring journey of Viktor Frankl. In addition to learning about Frankl’s contributions, attendees will be encouraged to explore their own experiences through various forms of creative expression such as art, poetry, and music.
The class will also delve into Polyvagal Theory, which provides insights into how trauma impacts the nervous system. This theory helps explain why trauma responses are rooted in our biology, highlighting that healing requires more than just cognitive efforts—it must address the body’s responses as well.
